You're Invited!

Several community-wide events are held within the City of Inver Grove Heights to connect our community members to one another, keep our community engaged, and provide all community members a variety of activities and special outings to attend. 

Weather Impacts to city-led programs and events

IGHs Weather Hot Line (651-450-2595) is the only place to check the status for city-led program and events due to inclement weather. We strive to update by 4:30 p.m. After hours, it is up to the coaches and instructors to make the final decision.

Summer 2019

IGH Food Truck Days  I  Second Wednesday of the month, June-Aug.

Taste different delicious dishes from local food trucks! Bring the family and the neighbors for this tasty event! The event is free to attend, but the food trucks will charge for their menu items.

Saint Paul Farmers Market  I  Sundays, June 16-Oct. 13  I  8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Shop for fresh and locally grown fruits, vegetables, seasoning, salsa, honey, flowers and more at the Saint Paul Farmers Market! The event is free to attend, but the food trucks will charge for their menu items. Each event will be in the VMCC Parking Lot at 8055 Barbara Ave. E.

Pine Bend Bluffs Trailhead Grand Opening  I  Thursday, Aug. 15  I  5:30-7:30 p.m.

Celebrate the opening of the newest trailhead along the Mississippi River Trail! Visit the new trailhead facility and walk/bike the newly constructed trail. Ribbon Cutting at 6 p.m. All made possible by the partnership of Dakota County, City of IGH, Minn. Dept. of Natural Resources, Friends of the Mississippi River and Flint Hills. IGH Days: City-Wide Garage Sale – Aug. 22-24

Come to shop or come to sell! The IGH Days City-Wide Garage Sale will be held Aug. 22-24.  This event is hosted by the IGH Days Committee. IGH Parks & Recreation Department helps support this event.

If you are interested in having a garage sale, complete a Registration Form and submit along with payment by Aug. 16 (by Aug. 13 to be included on the map) to Parks & Recreation, 8055 Barbara Ave., IGH, 55077.

Maps of Garage Sale locations are available for purchase in-person only. Maps will be sold for $1 at the following locations beginning Monday, Aug. 19:

IGH Days: Sept. 5-8

This four-day community celebration is back for 2019! Hosted by the IGH Days Committee, many events and activities are planned to engage and entertain community members of all ages! The City of Inver Grove Heights staff from Fire, PD and Parks & Rec turn out to help and participate in the celebration. Look forward to treasure hunts, street dances, many games and family-themed activities, as well as a Parade and Fireworks show! City Staff activities planned for IGH Days:

Float in Grand Day Parade  I  Saturday, Sept. 7  I  11 a.m.

Look for us in the Grand Day Parade - we will have many of our staff handing out goodies!

Time: 11 a.m.
Location: Begins at 80th St. and follows Cahill Ave. heading north to Buckley Way.

Bike the Bridges -  Family Bike Ride  I  Saturday, Sept. 7  I  3 p.m.

Join Parks & Rec staff for this free family bike ride! Route starts at Swing Bridge Park and goes to the Wakota Bridge and back and is about 5 miles. Bike King and the IGH Fire will provide bike repair and first aid along the route. IGH Police will also be on-site. Participants will receive a free t-shirt, beverage and snack. Event sponsors include: MedExpress.

Time: Bike ride begins at 3 p.m.
Location: Swing Bridge Park, 4465 66th St. E.

Public Safety Display presented by IGH Police and Fire Department

Come meet some of the police and fire crew and check out several different safety trailers and demonstrations, including:

  • Aerial fire truck, police cars & city vehicles
  • Fire safety trailer
  • Fire sprinkler demonstration trailer
  • Kitchen Fire Demo Trailer
  • CPR Booth
  • Live Safety Demos:
    • 1:30 pm -Air Bag Demo
    • 2:00 pm - Car Extrication Demo

Location: Along Cahill Ave. between 65th and 70th Streets

Annual Clean-Up Day: Saturday, Sept. 21
